Angela Holt Challenge Blog: Faux Modeling Paste

Hello friends!  Angela Holt Designs and her Creative Design Team have announced the first challenge.  Virginia is the hostess and she shows us how to make our own Modeling Paste.  She's offering a generous prize to one participant!  I’ve always purchased Golden Molding Paste and I love it but it can be a bit pricy!  I really like this idea!
For my project, I decided to make a Wine Case and decorate a Wine Bottle.  Getting my chipboard to curl and take form was the biggest challenge, but, misting it with water seemed to break down  the fibers and it started to take shape.

The door knob on top, the metal butterflies. key hole and keys, Metal pulls are all Graphic 45.  “A Proper Gentleman” papers are also Graphic 45.  The window die is Sizzix.

I wanted to make an extra special project for all of you today so I designed my own Glass Door Cabinet.

I used "A Proper Gentleman" line, medium weight chipboard, Clear Polyester Super Sheets, Shadowbox die, Gold Spines by 7 Gypsies (Discontinued), Victorian Shrine pieces, Metal Brads and Hinges.  Label die and punch, Corked Vials, Antique door plate and knob, wooden beads, Black acrylic paint.
A closer look.

I've used a couple adhesives to hold it all together.  Helmar 450 Quick Dry works well for the chipboard and paper.  Beacon holds all the metal and polyester sheets in place.
I hope you're enjoying the hop and be sure to stop next week to see my "Ladies' Diary" Wardrobe!

A Player Piano With A Mini Album

Hello friends!  Hope you’ve all started the New Year off with a bang!  In just a few days, January 7th, Angela Holt Designs and her Creative Design Team will be sharing some Graphic 45 projects.  It’s no secret that Graphic 45 is my favorite company so I can’t wait to share my new design with all of you.

The Player Piano is also one of my designs and it’s made with medium weight chipboard, Curtain Call by Graphic 45, Metal Clothespins, Metal Flowers.  Also used is a HEART KEY, ALTERED tag and gears and label by Tim Holtz.  I removed a music box player from a jewelry box and attached it to the inside of the top piece…gives it a bit of a Steampunk feel.  The legs. flowers and portions of the piano have been enhanced with Gold Embossing powder.

Happy New Year! Celebrating With A Ladies' Diary

Hello friends and Happy New Year!  Angela Holt Designs and her Creative Design Team will be bringing you some awesome Graphic 45 projects all month long!  I had the pleasure of working with "A Ladies' Diary" and decided to make a home fit for a lady.  It has working lights and it filled with many fine details from beautiful ladies', little curtains, a nice porch with pillars, and a walk way into the back so the women can sit under a shade tree.

A Proper Gentleman's Old Fashioned Main Street

Hello friends!  Wishing you all a Happy New Year and hoping all your dreams and goals come true in 2013!  I'm not sure if we'll be celebrating or staying home this year.  Most years we have stayed home tocelebrate the birthday of our youngest, Zach. who will be 16.  We adopted Zach and his three siblings, Marnie, Ernie and Kim when Zach was two.  Marnie and Ernie are off to college, Kim and Zach are the only kiddo's living at home.  I'm looking forward to being empty nesters in a few years :)

I made an extra so I could get you all in the mood for some Graphic 45 goodness!  Stop in tomorrow for a look at my house with working lights and " A Ladies' Diary" paper line.

I've used "A Proper Gentleman" by Graphic 45" and have used wooden houses to build an old fashioned main street.  The windows are Retro Cafe Art and I've embellished with some Tim Holtz.
Some close ups.

What’s In My Future?

According to the Fortune Teller, I'll be having a little Tropical Island getaway!  Wouldn't that be nice?  Temperatures here in Iowa have been pretty chilly and Autumn is in full swing.  The leaves are falling from the trees and the plants are resting until Spring.
For my "Fortune Teller" Globe, I've used Card Decor Set #7, Vintage Gold Piccolo Enamel and Vintage Black Piccolo Enamel.  The card decor sets are perfect for off the page projects.  The Clear ball is a Clear Christmas Ornament and can be purchased at many Craft Stores.  I've used acetate for the inside and adhered a "Fortune" to the front.  The bottom base is a tuna can that has been heat embossed with Vintage Gold.  The decorative cover was an antique shoppe find.  Place a small battery operated teal light in the can and it lights the glass ball!

I used some fiber fill in a pair of vintage gloves and glued them to the ball.
This is my last post for Hobby Baby and it's been lots of fun and an opportunity to work with some amazing products.  Hope you get a chance to make your "fortunes" come true :)

Thanks Mae for the fun opportunity!

A Happy Fourth of July To You

A Happy Fourth of July a day early :)  I spotted a fun challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and decided to play along.  The challenge is simple and it's all about BINGO!  Hop on over if you'd like to see the details of the challenge.  I decided to go with the right hand row of the BINGO card and use STAMP, EMBOSS and BLUE (the star has been stamped and heat embossed.  The date stamp has also been stamped.
Tonight we will go visit some friends who have an annual July 3rd celebration.  It's always fun to sit and visit and we usually have a bonfire.  Since our temps here in Iowa have been so HOT, maybe they'll have water fun instead..LOL!
The papers are Authentique, the flower is Prima, Canvas Corp makes the cute burlap banners.

Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop

Hello friends!  It's time for another blog hop with Really Reasonable Ribbon!  I love the soft, spring like colors of the Ribbon Assortment this month.  I decided to use  a vintage wooden spool and a glass votive holder for my project.
You should be arriving from Gloria's blog.  The hop officially starts at 7:30 EST.
Monthly Ribbon Club, Domestic
I've  used the club assortment on the spool. I've cut out a bird pattern using Graphic 45, Once Upon a Springtime,  added some fiber fill and sewed around the edges and added a white leaf for the wing.    I love the soft subtle green tint of the glass votive holder.
Your next stop will be Emily's blog.
